In a decisive operation led by the Ajdabiya Police Department, Libyan authorities have dismantled a suspected prostitution ring involving undocumented migrants. The raid, conducted under the directive of the Public Prosecutor, targeted a residential property allegedly used for illicit activities and human exploitation.

According to Migrant Rescue Watch, the operation resulted in the arrest of 36 individuals, comprising 18 men and 18 women and children of Nigerian and Chadian nationalities. All detainees were transferred to the Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) for legal processing in accordance with Libyan immigration laws.

The DCIM, operating under Libya’s Ministry of the Interior, is responsible for managing detention centers and overseeing the legal procedures for undocumented migrants. While the agency plays a critical role in immigration enforcement, it has faced scrutiny from international watchdogs over conditions in its facilities, including allegations of overcrowding, lack of sanitation, and mistreatment.

This latest raid underscores the Libyan government’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and illegal migration, particularly in regions vulnerable to exploitation due to conflict and economic instability.
