As Katsina State marks its 38th anniversary, Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda has issued a clarion call to all citizens to rally behind the sweeping reforms reshaping the state’s future. In a commemorative address, Governor Radda emphasized unity, resilience, and collective responsibility as the pillars of progress, urging residents to embrace the bold changes underway across key sectors.
Governor Radda highlighted the success of the Katsina Community Watch Corps, a grassroots security initiative that has deployed over 1,400 trained operatives across vulnerable communities. Supported by advanced equipment and strategic partnerships, the initiative has significantly reduced insecurity and restored hope to previously troubled areas.
Under his leadership, Katsina has built over 75 new secondary schools, renovated thousands more, and recruited 7,000 teachers. The administration has also paid examination fees for 54,000 students and empowered over 100,000 girls through the Girl Education Development Initiative, reinforcing the state’s commitment to inclusive education.
The government has upgraded 158 primary healthcare centers and constructed a modern dialysis facility. Through international collaborations, Katsina has secured over $10 million in medical equipment, positioning the state as a rising hub for medical tourism.
With the distribution of 400 tractors and the launch of KASEDA, a ₦5 billion entrepreneurship fund, the administration is empowering farmers and young entrepreneurs to lead the state’s economic revival.
Governor Radda’s reforms extend to land management and urban planning, with the ₦7.8 billion Katsina State Geographic Information Service (KATGIS) digitizing land records and boosting transparency. Infrastructure upgrades, rural road networks, and digital innovations are creating a more responsive and inclusive government.
“As we celebrate Katsina at 38, let us remember that progress is a shared journey,” Governor Radda stated. “I urge every citizen to stand behind these reforms—not just as beneficiaries, but as active participants in building a safer, smarter, and more prosperous Katsina.”
The Governor’s message was echoed by Hon. Mannir Wurma, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, who described Radda as “a leader committed to bridging the gap between government and the people.”
