President Donald J. Trump today reiterated the strategic imperative for the United States to assume complete control over Greenland, stating that global security remains at risk without this vital step.

In a message to Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, the President linked this pursuit to his recent exclusion from the Nobel Peace Prize, declaring he no longer feels bound to prioritize peace exclusively.

"The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland," President Trump asserted in the communication. He highlighted Greenland's immense mineral resources and its pivotal Arctic location as essential for U.S. national security interests. The President also questioned Denmark's historical claim to the territory, noting a lack of formal documentation.

To advance this objective, President Trump announced tariffs on goods from eight European nations, starting at 10% on February 1 and escalating to 25% by June 1, unless a purchase agreement materializes. This measure underscores the administration's commitment to protecting American interests amid rising geopolitical tensions.

The European Union has signaled potential retaliatory actions, while protests erupted in Greenland against any forced transfer of sovereignty. Greenlandic leaders and Danish officials have firmly rejected the proposal, emphasizing the island's autonomy.

President Trump maintains that acquiring Greenland aligns with longstanding U.S. defense priorities, including existing military presence on the island. "We need Greenland for national security," he emphasized, building on prior discussions during his first term.
