The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice-Presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has called on Nigerians to reject divisive politics and demand competent, accountable leadership as the presidential campaign season begins.
In a statement posted on his verified X account on Thursday to mark the commencement of the 2027 presidential campaign, the former Kano State governor urged citizens to reflect on the current state of the nation and the kind of country they wish to leave for future generations.
Kwankwaso highlighted the pressing challenges facing Nigerians, including rising food prices, unemployment, high cost of doing business, and insecurity.
“What we need is leadership with the competence, courage and commitment to put the interests of Nigerians first,” he stated.
He explained that his decision to partner with Mr. Peter Obi on the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket was driven by a shared commitment to Nigeria, rather than regional, religious or personal interests.
“Our partnership is not about region, religion or personal ambition. It is about Nigeria. We believe in a country where government serves the people, where hard work is rewarded, where young people can build successful futures at home, and where every citizen has a fair opportunity to prosper,” Kwankwaso said.
Appealing to youths, women, workers, farmers, entrepreneurs and professionals, he urged them to join the movement and demand accountability, competence and results from those entrusted with public office.
“Let us move beyond politics of division and focus on the issues that affect our daily lives,” he added
Kwankwaso described the 2027 election as an opportunity for Nigerians to choose a new direction for the country and called for support for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and all NDC candidates.
He also appealed to politicians to campaign peacefully, responsibly and with the national interest at heart.
