Former Vice President and 2023 PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the recent Boko Haram attack on Darajamal, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. The assault, which occurred on Friday evening, claimed the lives of over 60 individuals, including soldiers and civilians, and left many homes destroyed and residents abducted.

In a heartfelt statement issued on Sunday, Atiku condemned the attack as “senseless violence” and a painful reminder of the devastating toll terrorism continues to exact on Nigerian communities. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the resilient people of Borno, and Governor Babagana Zulum, who swiftly visited the affected area to offer support.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the victims, the resilient people of Borno, and Governor Zulum, whose swift response is commendable. May Almighty Allah grant the departed eternal rest and comfort their loved ones,” Atiku stated.

He further urged Nigerians to rise above divisions and confront insecurity with unity and renewed determination. Emphasizing the need for stronger collaboration between security agencies and local communities, Atiku called for enhanced intelligence gathering and more effective counterterrorism strategies to protect lives and restore peace.

“The sacrifices of our soldiers and civilians must inspire stronger community security, deeper collaboration, and unwavering commitment to peace,” he added.
