Veteran Nollywood actor and beloved screen legend, Chief Chiwetalu Agu, has officially addressed and dismissed recent death rumours circulating on social media, assuring fans and the public that he is alive, well, and thriving.
In a heartfelt video posted to his official Instagram account, the Enugu-born actor expressed shock and disappointment over the false reports, which claimed he had passed away following health complications. Agu clarified that the rumours were entirely baseless, attributing them to attention-seeking bloggers who spread misinformation for likes and views.
“Let me shock you,” Agu declared in the video. “Chief Chiwetalu Agu Okenmirin’ezoru1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State, is not going to die any time soon. Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies. The one who digs a pit will fall inside; the one who digs a grave will fall inside. I am going to carry my grandchildren.”
The actor, known for his iconic use of witty expressions and comedic timing in Nigerian cinema, emphasized that he remains strong and active. He urged fans to disregard the malicious rumours and report any pages spreading such falsehoods.
“If it were one of the big bloggers, I would have sued for defamation and economic damage,” Agu added. “But this one is still struggling with likes. Fans and families, please disregard any rumours and rebuke anyone spreading such diabolical news about me.”
