The Delta State Police Command wishes to inform the public of a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crime across the state. In a coordinated operation involving intelligence gathering and tactical raids, three individuals suspected of involvement in a recent kidnapping incident were arrested and taken into custody.
The suspects were intercepted during a stop and search operation following reports of a kidnapping in Obinomba community. The victim, a female passenger on a motorcycle, was abducted at gunpoint by armed assailants. Swift police response led to the identification and tracking of the suspects, culminating in their arrest.
Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the officers involved for their bravery and professionalism. He emphasized the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and warned criminal elements that Delta State will not be a safe haven for their activities.
“We are sending a clear message to criminals: Delta State is not a place for lawlessness. Our officers are trained, equipped, and determined to root out crime wherever it hides,” said CP Abaniwonda during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Asaba.
The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations. The rescued victim has been reunited with her family and is receiving medical and psychological support.
