The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirms a fatal accident involving multiple vehicles at Ekoro Junction, inward Ile-Iwe, Lagos. The crash occurred when a fully loaded six-tyre trailer suffered a mechanical brake failure, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The trailer crushed a tricycle beyond recognition before colliding with a Honda Pilot and a Toyota Camry.

According to Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, preliminary investigations revealed that the trailer’s brake failure was the primary cause of the accident. Emergency responders, including LASTMA officials and other security operatives, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage traffic and assist victims.

“This unfortunate incident underscores the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and strict adherence to safety protocols,” said Taofiq. “We urge all commercial and private vehicle operators to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on any journey.”
