Tinubu Celebrates Jonathan at 68, Praises His Legacy in Strengthening Nigeria’s Democracy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to former President Goodluck Jonathan on the occasion of his 68th birthday, commending his enduring contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey and national unity.  





In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Dr. Jonathan as a statesman whose humility and simplicity continue to inspire Nigerians. He highlighted Jonathan’s historic concession during the 2015 presidential election as a defining moment that strengthened Nigeria’s democracy and gave the nation global recognition for peaceful democratic transitions.  







The President recalled his past engagements with Jonathan, noting the support and counsel that contributed to Jonathan’s political rise, particularly in 2010 and ahead of the 2011 presidential election. Tinubu emphasized that Jonathan’s calm leadership style and commitment to nation building remain exemplary for current and future leaders.  







Joining Jonathan’s family, friends, and political associates in celebration, President Tinubu praised the former leader’s dedication to fostering peace and unity across Nigeria. He underscored Jonathan’s role in promoting dialogue and reconciliation, which has been vital in addressing national challenges and strengthening democratic institutions.  







President Tinubu further noted that Jonathan’s legacy of humility and statesmanship continues to resonate beyond Nigeria’s borders, as he has played key roles in international mediation and peace-building efforts. He affirmed that Jonathan’s contributions remain a source of pride for the nation and a reminder of the importance of selfless leadership.
