The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is proud to announce the debut of a groundbreaking new Man-of-the-Match trophy at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

Designed by acclaimed Nigerian-British artist Yinka Ilori, the trophy embodies the spirit of African unity, diversity, and the continent's vibrant football heritage. The innovative award features 24 radiant beams, each representing one of the participating nations in this year's tournament.

These beams converge around a central golden football, symbolizing the collective strength and shared passion that unites African teams on the global stage.

Commissioned in partnership with TotalEnergies, the trophy not only honors individual excellence but also tells a broader story of Africa's evolving narrative through sport.

"Football has always been a powerful force for unity across our continent," said CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. "This new Man-of-the-Match trophy is more than an award. It's a celebration of Africa's diversity and resilience. As we gather in Morocco for AFCON 2025, it reminds us that every match is an opportunity to showcase the talent and togetherness that define African football."

The trophy has already made its mark during the opening matches of the tournament, with players like Brahim Díaz of Morocco and Lassine Sinayoko of Mali receiving the honor on matchday 1. Its design draws inspiration from African culture, incorporating elements that highlight the continent's rich artistic traditions and forward looking vision.

AFCON 2025, hosted in Morocco, brings together 24 nations in a thrilling display of top tier football, running through January 2026. The tournament continues to elevate African football on the world stage, with record breaking viewership and unprecedented sponsorship support.
