The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated legal proceedings against Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, by filing a three-count criminal charge related to allegations of forgery and the use of false documents in connection with a disputed property in the United Kingdom.

The charges, marked FCT/HC/CR/010/2026, were lodged on January 16, 2026, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on behalf of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

Ozekhome is accused of knowingly presenting forged documents, including a Nigerian international passport, to bolster his ownership claim over the property at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX, during hearings before the London First-Tier Tribunal.

This development stems from a September 2025 ruling by a London property tribunal that implicated Ozekhome in fraudulent activities related to the North London building.

"The Federal Government remains steadfast in its anti-corruption drive, ensuring accountability for all citizens regardless of status," stated Osuobeni Akponimisingha, Head of the High-Profile Prosecution Department at the ICPC. "This case highlights our commitment to addressing misconduct that undermines justice, both domestically and internationally."

The ICPC and the Office of the Attorney-General will continue to pursue the matter through the courts, emphasizing transparency and the rule of law in Nigeria's fight against corruption.
