Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane expressed strong reservations about appointing Michael Carrick as the club's permanent manager, despite recent positive results under Carrick's interim leadership.

Keane shared his views during a Sky Sports broadcast following Manchester United's impressive victories over Manchester City and Arsenal. He emphasized the need for a more experienced figure at the helm of the storied club.

"Even if Manchester United win every game between now and the end of the season, I don’t think that Michael Carrick should get the job," Keane stated. "I still think they need a bigger and better manager. A manager with more experience."

The pundit dismissed suggestions that Carrick's current form warrants a full-time role. When asked if achieving a top-four finish would change his mind, Keane replied, "Even if they get 4th I would NOT be convinced he's the man for the job, they need a bigger and better manager."

Keane acknowledged Carrick's contributions but remained firm. "Absolutely not," he said in response to the idea of Carrick as a long-term solution. He added that the club requires someone "bigger and better" to restore its former glory.

This commentary comes amid speculation about Manchester United's managerial future, with Carrick stepping in temporarily and delivering back-to-back wins. Keane's fellow pundit Patrick Vieira disagreed, suggesting Carrick deserves a chance for the permanent position.
