Former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing its governance style as akin to "cartel behaviour" rather than a legitimate government.

In an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ program on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Nwajiuba accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of presiding over gross incompetence and consolidating political power to monopolize national resources.

He emphasized that his remarks were not focused on allegations of corruption but on what he views as a fundamental failure in governance.

"This is not government. This is cartel behaviour," Nwajiuba stated during the interview. He further expressed his desire to inject more substance into Nigerian politics and empower younger generations, saying, “I don't want to break through the field. I want to bring in more substance, more younger persons. The future belongs to us.”

Nwajiuba, who previously served under former President Muhammadu Buhari and contested the APC presidential primary in 2022, has been vocal about the need for systemic reforms in Nigeria's political landscape. His latest comments come amid ongoing debates about the effectiveness of the current administration in addressing economic challenges, security issues, and resource management.

The former minister's critique highlights growing concerns within political circles about the concentration of power and its impact on national development. Nwajiuba called for a shift toward inclusive governance that prioritizes competence and youth involvement to secure Nigeria's future.
