In a significant development that further strengthens the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Hon. Inuwa Garba, the Member representing Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

The defection was formally announced on Thursday, February 19, 2026, when Hon. Garba paid a courtesy visit to Gombe State Governor, His Excellency Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, at the Government House in Gombe.

During the visit, the lawmaker presented his APC membership card, which he obtained from his ward in Lubo, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area, symbolizing his complete alignment with the progressive family at both state and national levels.

Hon. Garba cited the exemplary leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the transformative Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as key factors influencing his decision to join the APC.

He expressed confidence that the ruling party’s policies and performance would continue to deliver meaningful development to the people of Gombe State and Nigeria at large.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya welcomed Hon. Garba into the APC fold, describing the move as a bold, responsible, and forward-thinking decision.

The Governor emphasized that such defections reflect growing trust in the APC’s commitment to good governance, infrastructure development, and inclusive progress across Gombe State. This defection follows a similar move by another federal lawmaker from Gombe,

Hon. Abdullahi El-Rasheed (representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency), who recently joined the APC, signaling a steady realignment of political forces in favor of the ruling party.

The APC in Gombe State views Hon. Inuwa Garba’s integration as a major boost to its efforts to consolidate power, promote unity, and accelerate development initiatives for the benefit of all constituents.
