Obasanjo Turns 89 — And Turns Compassion into Action with Free Medical Outreach for 10,000 Lagosians

In a heartfelt gesture reflecting his lifelong commitment to public service and the well-being of Nigerians, former President Olusegun Obasanjo is marking his 89th birthday with a large-scale free medical mission targeting over 10,000 beneficiaries in Lagos suburbs.


The initiative, spearheaded by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, will deliver essential, life-changing healthcare services at no cost to residents in the Ikorodu and Alimosho areas. The outreach is scheduled to run from Friday, February 27, 2026, through Wednesday, March 4, 2026.


Activities will commence in Ikorodu:  Friday, February 27, 2026, at Ijede LCDA Council Hall, Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Imota Mini Stadium, Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos.


The program will then continue in Alimosho: Monday, March 2, 2026, to Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Alade Stadium, Command Road, Agbado/Oke-Odo, Alimosho, Lagos.


Beneficiaries will receive a wide range of free services, including: Cardiovascular screening, blood pressure checks, and heart health assessments.


Preventive medical counseling Free ear care services, including screening and provision of hearing aids for qualified individuals.


Free eye care services, detailed eye screening, provision of prescription glasses, and referrals/sponsorship for eye surgeries where needed. General consultations, medications, and other primary healthcare interventions.


This medical outreach underscores Chief Obasanjo's enduring legacy of leadership, compassion, and dedication to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians, particularly the underserved. 


By choosing to commemorate his milestone birthday through service to the community rather than personal celebration, the former President continues to inspire generations with his philosophy of giving back.
