In a devastating blow to terrorism in Nigeria's
North West, the Defence Headquarters has announced that its forces are
executing a precise, multi-pronged strategy that is leaving insurgents with
nowhere to run or hide. The update, delivered by Major General Michael Onoja on
Friday, March 6, 2026, reveals a week of crippling successes for Operation
FANSAN YAMMA, showcasing an unmatched integration of intelligence, air power,
and ground forces.
"The seamless fusion of real-time intelligence
with relentless ground and air operations has created an inescapable net,"
declared Major General Onoja. "We are striking them in their hideouts,
intercepting them on their supply routes, and even flushing them out from
hospitals where they seek refuge. This is the new, unstoppable reality for
these criminals."
A key success demonstrates the operation's chilling
efficiency for terrorist networks. On March 2, acting on a pinpoint tip, troops
raided a hospital in Galadimawa, Giwa LGA of Kaduna State, where wounded
terrorists were receiving treatment. Two suspects were captured, and when
coerced to lead troops to a hideout, they attempted to flee, a fatal
mistake. They and their cohorts were neutralized in an ambush, a clear signal
that the military can track targets from sickbed to sanctuary.
Further highlighting the operational tempo, troops
on the same day intercepted a vehicle with a brazen smuggling attempt, a bag
of rice concealing arms and over 542 rounds of ammunition. This critical
interception underscores the DHQ's strategy to strangle the flow of weapons
that sustain terror campaigns.
Earlier in the week, on February 28, troops in
Zamfara State apprehended a suspected terrorist courier on a motorcycle, found
with military-grade gear, exposing the logistical chains of terror groups.
The Defence Headquarters emphasized that these
victories are a direct result of its evolved strategy and community trust.
"These operations are a testament to our unwavering commitment and the
sophisticated intelligence architecture we have built," a senior defence
official stated. "To the terrorists: your informants are being rolled up,
your supplies are being cut, your wounded have no sanctuary. Your end is
inevitable. To the public: your cooperation is yielding results. Continue to
stand with your armed forces as we restore peace and security."
All
arrested suspects and recovered weapons are in custody, with investigations
ongoing to dismantle wider networks. Operation FANSAN YAMMA continues its
relentless advance.
