Senator Remi Okunrinboye, a seasoned statesman, chartered accountant, former Senator of the Federal Republic, and one of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s most consistent and vocal supporters, has declared his absolute confidence in the President’s re-election in 2027.

In a candid and detailed interview, Senator Okunrinboye stated unequivocally that President Tinubu’s decades-long preparation, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress make his victory in the next presidential election inevitable.

“Tinubu has been preparing for decades. I have no doubt he’ll win again,” Senator Okunrinboye affirmed. “He possesses the right vision, the experience, and the determination to turn around Nigeria’s fortunes. He knows what he is doing, and he is facing our challenges head-on.”

The Senator, who has known and worked closely with President Tinubu since the days of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) struggle against military dictatorship, described the President as a leader who learnt from the best of Nigeria’s past heroes and has spent nearly four decades deeply involved in the nation’s politics.

He defended the Tinubu administration’s bold economic reforms, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, describing them as necessary but painful steps required to correct long-standing structural defects in the economy.

“These reforms were inevitable,” Okunrinboye explained. “The old system was already collapsing and benefiting only a few at the expense of the majority. The discomfort we feel today is short-term. The long-term gains improved government revenues, greater transparency, increased investor confidence, and a more productive economy will be worth the sacrifice.”

Senator Okunrinboye called on Nigerians to remain patient and supportive, noting that the Tinubu administration has already begun rolling out targeted interventions, including over ₦330 billion disbursed to eight million households to cushion the effects of the reforms.

He dismissed critics who claim the current hardships are too much to bear, describing the previous subsidy and exchange rate regimes as unsustainable policies that would have led to even greater pain if left untouched.

“As a leader who has always been ready to make personal sacrifices for the nation, President Tinubu is doing what true leadership demands taking tough but necessary decisions for the greater good of Nigeria,” he added.

Concluding his remarks, Senator Okunrinboye expressed unshakable faith in President Tinubu’s capacity to deliver the “renewed hope” he promised.

“Great things take time. President Bola Tinubu has the experience, the passion, and the plan. I can boldly tell Nigerians that he will transform the current challenges into lasting order and prosperity. In 2027, he will win again – and Nigeria will be the ultimate winner.”
