President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday, April 8, and Thursday, April 9, 2026, officially unveil and commission six transformative infrastructure projects in Lagos State, underscoring his administration’s commitment to accelerated development, economic growth, and improved quality of life for Nigerians.
The two-day working visit, which begins on Wednesday, will see the President commissioning key projects spanning transportation, power, housing, health, education, and urban mobility. These initiatives, executed through strategic public-private partnerships and federal investments, are designed to ease traffic congestion, boost commerce, enhance energy supply, and deliver world-class amenities to residents of Africa’s largest city.
The six projects scheduled for unveiling are: Lagos-Ibadan Rail Extension (Apapa Port Spur) A critical rail link that will decongest the Apapa seaport and improve cargo evacuation nationwide.
Oshodi-Agege-Abule Egba BRT Corridor Upgrade A modern Bus Rapid Transit system featuring dedicated lanes, solar-powered stations, and intelligent traffic management.
Ikeja Electric Power Distribution Substation Expansion A 132/33kV facility that will add 150MW of reliable electricity to industrial and residential areas.
Lagos State Affordable Housing Scheme (Phase II, Ajah Axis) Delivery of 1,000 two- and three-bedroom units under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme.
General Hospital, Orile-Agege Ultra-Modern Diagnostic Centre A state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced MRI, CT scanners, and cancer treatment capabilities.
Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) Faculty Complex and Innovation Hub New academic blocks and a technology park aimed at producing industry-ready graduates.
Speaking ahead of the visit, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, said: “These six projects are not just structures; they represent the tangible dividends of the Renewed Hope Agenda. President Tinubu is delivering on his promise to rebuild infrastructure, create jobs, and position Lagos as a 21st-century global megacity.”
The President will be accompanied by top government officials, including the Minister of Works, the Minister of Power, the Minister of Transportation, and the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Members of the diplomatic corps and private sector leaders have also been invited to witness the historic commissioning ceremonies.
