President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new campus of the Nigeria Police Academy in Ogun State, backed by a substantial N15 billion take-off grant. This initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s comprehensive efforts to strengthen police training, professional development, and overall capacity within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The new campus aims to expand access to quality police education, enhance specialized training programs, and support the broader reform agenda to transform the NPF into a more professional, technologically driven, and responsive law enforcement institution.
It will contribute to addressing the growing demand for well-trained personnel capable of tackling contemporary security challenges, including intelligence gathering, cybercrime, and community-oriented policing.
This development aligns with recent milestones in police training reform, including the signing into law of the Nigeria Police Training Institutions Establishment Bill, which provides statutory backing for multiple specialized training institutions nationwide. The Ogun campus is expected to feature modern facilities, advanced simulation and digital training tools, and curricula aligned with global best practices.
President Tinubu’s administration remains committed to sustained investment in police welfare, infrastructure, equipment, and human capital development. By expanding training infrastructure, the government seeks to build a more efficient and accountable police force that can effectively safeguard lives, property, and national security.
The N15 billion take-off grant will support initial infrastructure development, procurement of training equipment, faculty recruitment, and operational setup to ensure the campus becomes fully functional in the shortest possible time.
The Inspector-General of Police and relevant stakeholders have been directed to fast-track implementation while ensuring transparency and value for money in project execution.
