Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has formally consulted Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio as part of political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Eno led a high-powered delegation of state leaders and stakeholders to the residence of the Senate President on Monday, May 11, 2026. The visit was to express appreciation for Akpabio’s ongoing support for the peace, unity, and development of Akwa Ibom State and to seek his blessings for the governor’s re-election bid.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Governor Eno said: “Last night, I led a delegation of leaders and stakeholders of Akwa Ibom State to formally consult the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, ahead of the 2027 elections. We came to appreciate him for his continued support and commitment to the peace, unity, and development of our State, and to seek his blessings as we continue this journey.”
The governor further reaffirmed the delegation’s commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Senate President in their shared vision for a greater and more united Akwa Ibom State. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception and encouraging words received during the meeting.
Governor Eno, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2025, recently purchased and submitted his APC governorship nomination form for a second term. The strategic engagement with the Senate President, a prominent APC leader and Akwa Ibom indigene, highlights the governor’s efforts to strengthen alliances and consolidate support within the ruling party.
Quote from Governor Umo Eno: “I am grateful for the warm reception and the encouraging words of the Senate President. We will continue to place the peace, unity, and progress of our State above every other consideration.”
The development is seen as a significant step in the unfolding political landscape of Akwa Ibom State as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
