Presidential hopeful Peter Obi has officially accepted the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) ticket, pledging to tackle Nigeria's security challenges and transform the nation's struggling power sector if elected.

Speaking at the party's national convention, Obi expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for entrusting him with the mandate to lead the party into the next general election.

"I accept this nomination with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to the Nigerian people," Obi said. "Our nation stands at a critical crossroads, and together we must build a safer, more productive, and more prosperous Nigeria."

Addressing the country's worsening security situation, Obi vowed to implement comprehensive reforms aimed at strengthening the nation's security architecture, improving intelligence gathering, enhancing collaboration among security agencies, and addressing the root causes of violence and criminality.

"No nation can achieve meaningful development without security. My administration will prioritize the protection of lives and property, ensuring that every Nigerian can live, work, and invest without fear," he stated.

On the power sector, Obi emphasized the urgent need for reliable electricity as a foundation for economic growth, job creation, and industrial development. He pledged to attract investments, support renewable energy initiatives, and implement policies that would significantly increase power generation and distribution across the country.

"Nigeria cannot continue to operate below its potential because of inadequate electricity supply. We will pursue practical solutions that deliver stable and affordable power to homes, businesses, and industries," Obi said.

He further called on Nigerians across political, ethnic, and religious divides to unite behind a shared vision of national progress, accountability, and good governance.

The NDC leadership described Obi's emergence as a significant step toward offering Nigerians a credible alternative focused on competence, transparency, and people-centered development.

As preparations begin for the upcoming elections, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to issue-based campaigning and promised to present a clear roadmap for addressing Nigeria's economic, security, and infrastructure challenges.
