A French appeals court in Versailles confirmed today that Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco international defender Achraf Hakimi will stand trial on charges of rape.
The ruling upholds an earlier decision by an investigative judge from February 2026. Hakimi, 27, has consistently denied the allegations, which stem from an incident in February 2023 involving a woman who was then 24 years old.
Hakimi’s legal team stated that the case relies solely on the complainant’s account. His lawyer, Fanny Colin, noted the accuser’s refusal of medical examinations, DNA testing, access to her mobile phone, and identification of a key witness.
Following the decision, Hakimi posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he had been “waiting for this trial since day one,” expressing confidence in the judicial process and his desire for the truth to emerge publicly.
The player, who serves as vice-captain for PSG and captain of the Moroccan national team, is currently participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Morocco. He remains under judicial supervision while continuing his professional football career.
No trial date has been announced. If convicted, Hakimi could face up to 15 years in prison.
PSG and the Moroccan Football Federation have not issued immediate comments on the ruling.
