President Donald J. Trump today issued a strong warning to Russia and China against selling or supplying weapons to Iran, stating that any such action would be “very bad” for both nations and their interests.
Speaking on Friday, President Trump revealed that he has received direct assurances from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin that they would not provide arms to Iran. He emphasized that he takes these commitments seriously but made clear that violations would carry severe consequences.
“If they do that, it would be very bad,” Trump stated, underscoring the U.S. position amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The warning comes as the United States continues to monitor potential support for Iran during its conflict involving U.S. and Israeli interests.
President Trump referenced earlier diplomatic engagements, including his May 2026 summit in Beijing with President Xi, during which the issue was discussed.
