Iran’s judiciary announced on Monday that it has carried out the death sentences of two men convicted of espionage on behalf of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.
According to the judiciary-affiliated Mizan News Agency, Omid Behzad and Pouria Safvat were hanged after being found guilty of transmitting the coordinates of sensitive military and security sites to Israeli intelligence officers. The men were accused of providing this information during the 12-day and 40-day conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Mizan stated that the pair had engaged in intelligence cooperation with the “Zionist regime” and that their sentences were upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court following judicial proceedings.
