Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, led by the party’s governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, on Saturday commenced a statewide “thank-you” tour, starting in the southern part of the state.
Accompanied by the State Chairman of the APC, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, party chieftains, and various support groups, the delegation kicked off the visits in Ekiti Local Government Area before proceeding to Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
The team paid courtesy visits to the palaces of the Olosi of Osi and Chairman of the Ekiti Council of Chiefs, Oba Saliu Abdulkareem Adasofegbe (Arowobeku II), and the Alofa of Ilofa and Chairman of the Oke-Ero Council of Chiefs, Oba Samuel Niyi Dada. Other traditional rulers from both local government areas also attended the engagements.
Addressing APC supporters at a town hall in Ekiti, Danladi expressed deep appreciation for the people’s support during the party primaries and appealed for continued backing for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu down to the State House of Assembly.
“We are starting this tour in Ekiti as a mark of honour for our party Chairman. We are here to thank you for what you did during the party primaries and seek your continued support for our candidacies,” Danladi said.
“We appreciate you for coming out en masse to receive us. This visit is just by a short notice and the hall is filled to its capacity. We will not take your support for granted. We will consolidate your gains from the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.”
The governorship candidate pledged to sustain the developmental legacies of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, particularly in critical infrastructure, inclusive growth, human capital development, and respect for traditional institutions.
He also urged party faithful to mobilise more supporters: “Please, let’s talk to our neighbours, particularly those who have missed roads to come back to the winning team. The train has not started yet. There is still space in the train so that they can be carried along. May God Almighty continue to guide us.”
APC State Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi highlighted key achievements of the current administration in Ekiti Local Government, including the establishment of a functional Kwara State University (KWASU) campus in Osi and the reconstruction of the Osi–Obbo-Aiyegunle road, which has significantly reduced travel time.
“Ekiti Local Government has witnessed unprecedented growth and development since the creation of Kwara State. We now have a functioning university campus… This used to be our lost glory in Ekiti. We have to thank Governor AbdulRazaq and reciprocate by voting for the APC,” Fagbemi said.
At the palace of the Olosi of Osi, he prayed that the blessings of the traditional rulers upon the candidates would be permanent.
The Olosi of Osi and the Alofa of Ilofa, along with other royal fathers, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for transforming the state over the past seven years. They charged the APC candidates to deliver good governance if elected and offered prayers for their success at the polls.
Kwara South Senatorial candidate Prince Lekan Adewoye also thanked the people of Ekiti and Oke-Ero for their consistent support and promised to prioritise the needs of the district if elected.
Other speakers, including Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel (member representing Ekiti Constituency) and party stakeholders Elder Dele Aina and Engr. Ogunmola, reaffirmed the area’s strong allegiance to the APC and pledged massive support for all the party’s candidates in 2027.
The thank-you tour is expected to continue across other parts of the state as the APC consolidates grassroots support ahead of the general elections.
