The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, has firmly declared that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, belongs to his political camp and that both men remain fully aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists on Friday during an inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, Wike made the emphatic statement following Governor Adeleke’s visit to him the previous evening. During the visit, the Osun governor presented his Certificate of Return, which he received from the Independent National Electoral Commission after winning the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
The visit came shortly after Adeleke’s meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, signalling deepening political realignments.
“Adeleke belongs to us, and we all belong to Mr President. Thank you, brother,” Wike stated.
He described Adeleke’s decision to visit both the President and himself as clear evidence of the governor’s loyalty, adding: “So, Adeleke is fully supporting Mr President.”
Wike dismissed claims by elements within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that they contributed to Adeleke’s electoral victory, accusing them of attempting to “harvest what they never planted.” He insisted that the governor, whom he described as a PDP member at heart who sought a viable platform due to internal party challenges, is now firmly within the emerging pro-Tinubu alliance.
The FCT Minister characterised the unfolding political movement as a “Rainbow Coalition,” noting that supporters from different parties are uniting behind President Tinubu. He predicted that more politicians and groups would join in the coming weeks.
Turning to the opposition, Wike vowed to keep former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other opposition figures under sustained political pressure.
“I don’t want them to feel well. It is not my wish that they should feel well. My business is to make them not feel well all day, because they will be having high blood pressure. I guess that is my job to make them have high blood pressure,” he declared.
Wike maintained that there is currently no formidable leading opposition party in the country, arguing that the opposition has been depleted by internal crises. He reiterated that the 2027 presidential election would be the most thoroughly contested in Nigeria’s history and expressed confidence in the growing strength of the pro-Tinubu coalition.
The Minister’s remarks underscore the intensifying political manoeuvres as stakeholders position themselves for the 2027 polls.
