Award-winning Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that soldiers are attempting to prevent him from entering Osun State as the state holds its governorship election today.
In a post shared on his verified X account in the early hours of Saturday, the singer stated that he had been reliably informed of plans by military personnel to block his entry into the state.
“I’ve been reliably informed that soldiers are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow, this won’t happen, every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point of time,” Davido wrote.
The allegation comes amid heightened security measures for the Osun State governorship election. The Nigeria Police Force had earlier announced a restriction of movement across the state from midnight on Friday, August 14, until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and orderly poll.
Davido, a nephew of the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, has been actively involved in his uncle’s re-election campaign on the platform of the Accord Party. Governor Adeleke is seeking a second term against candidates including Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and others in the off-cycle election.
The singer’s post quickly generated significant reactions online, with some users linking the reported attempt to the general election-day movement restrictions, while others expressed concern over possible targeted actions against a high-profile supporter of the incumbent.
As voting continues across Osun State, security agencies have deployed thousands of personnel to maintain law and order at polling units and key locations.
