The Abia State Government has clarified that the sum of One Billion Naira (₦1,000,000,000) was expended on the purchase of twelve (12) official vehicles, and not the Two Billion Naira (₦2,000,000,000) figure circulating in some reports.
The Honourable Commissioner, while addressing the matter, stated that the actual expenditure stands at ₦1 billion for the twelve vehicles acquired to support official duties across relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
He emphasised that the higher figure of ₦2 billion is inaccurate and does not reflect the approved and executed procurement.
According to the Commissioner: “The correct amount spent on the twelve vehicles is One Billion Naira. Any report suggesting otherwise is incorrect and does not represent the position of the Abia State Government. We remain committed to transparency and prudent management of public resources.”
The clarification forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to provide accurate information on government expenditure and to address public enquiries promptly.
