The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is once again grappling with internal tensions as demands from the camp of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, have sparked a renewed feud ahead of the party’s National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
At the heart of the dispute are six key demands issued by Wike’s allies under the banner of Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP.
The group warned that failure to meet these conditions would render the upcoming convention “invalid,” citing concerns over disenfranchisement and disregard for judicial pronouncements.
In a swift and defiant response, PDP Governors and party leadership, including National Chairman Umar Damagum and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, declared that the convention will proceed as planned. They emphasized the party’s commitment to discipline and unity, refusing to bow to what they described as “arrogance and impunity.”
Governor Mohammed stated, “We are not cowards. We will not allow anyone to drag the PDP into self-destruction. Enough is enough.”
Chairman Damagum added, “The PDP is not broken. It is marching forward—stronger, more determined, and better prepared to reclaim the presidency and rebuild Nigeria.”
