In a recent statement, Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria's steadfast dedication to ongoing military operations nationwide. Speaking on behalf of the military, during the end of the month media briefing at Defence Headquarters on 30 January 2026, he emphasized that troops are maintaining high levels of focus, professionalism, and determination in fulfilling their constitutional duties to protect lives, property, and the country's territorial integrity. Despite ongoing challenges, Major General Onoja highlighted substantial advancements achieved through persistent operations, strengthened inter-agency partnerships, and vital support from local communities.
The statement also expressed deep gratitude
to the Nigerian public for their resilience, patriotism, and cooperation,
noting that timely information from citizens has been instrumental in
operational successes. Major
General Onoja also commended the media for their
responsible reporting and role in disseminating accurate information to the
populace. Under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi
Oluyede, “the Armed Forces are committed to adapting, innovating, and
decisively countering emerging security threats, with confidence that
collaborative efforts will lead to enduring peace and stability”, Major General Onoja added.
To further bolster these efforts, General
Oluyede's guiding mantra, “See Something, Say Something,” encourages all
Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. The Defence
Headquarters has called on national leaders and stakeholders to mobilize
eligible youths and share critical information with the military, fostering a
united front against insecurity.
The Defence Headquarters continues to
provide unwavering support to safeguard lives and properties across the nation,
deploying resources and strategies to address threats proactively. “In the meantime, under
the dynamic leadership of Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi
Oluyede, the issue of insecurity is poised to become a thing of the past, as
the military intensifies its operations and builds on recent gains for a safer
Nigeria”, Major General
Onoja concluded.
