In a moving Pulling Out Parade held at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja, retired General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), formally ended his 39-year military career, expressing deep gratitude and satisfaction with his service to Nigeria.
Addressing a gathering of top military brass, government officials, and family members, Gen. Musa said, “This pulling-out parade is not just a ceremony; it marks the end of a journey of service that has lasted 39 years and four months, and the beginning of a new chapter in my life. I leave with a clear conscience, knowing I gave my best to the Armed Forces and to Nigeria.”
General Musa, who served as CDS from June 2023 to October 2025, was instrumental in leading joint military operations that significantly weakened insurgent strongholds and improved inter-agency cooperation in national security. His tenure was marked by strategic reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and troop welfare.
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve at the highest level of military leadership and praised the dedication of officers and men of the Armed Forces. “Nigeria’s security remains in capable hands,” he assured, expressing confidence in the current leadership of the military.
