Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio today stepped in on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to officially unveil a suite of landmark infrastructure and economic development projects in Lagos State, underscoring the Federal Government’s continued commitment to transforming Nigeria’s commercial capital under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The high-profile event, held at the Banquet Hall of the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex, saw Senate President Akpabio commissioning key initiatives including the first phase of the Lagos Coastal Road Project, the expanded Lekki Free Trade Zone infrastructure, and the groundbreaking of the new Lagos State Smart Mobility Corridor a multi-modal transport system designed to ease traffic congestion and boost intra-state commerce.
Representing President Tinubu, who is currently engaged in critical international engagements, Senate President Akpabio delivered the President’s message of unwavering support for Lagos State’s development.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked me to stand in for him today because Lagos is not just a state it is the heartbeat of Nigeria’s economy,” Akpabio said. “These projects are not mere constructions; they are strategic investments in the future of our nation. The projects unveiled today are expected to generate over 15,000 direct and indirect jobs within the first 24 months of operation and significantly improve connectivity between Lagos Island, the Lekki Peninsula, and the mainland. They form part of a broader federal-state partnership that has already seen the completion of several Tinubu-era interventions in the state.
