The Nigerian Army has launched an intensified search and rescue operation following the abduction of 25 female students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
During a visit to the affected community, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, issued a firm directive to troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to fight “day and night” until the abducted schoolgirls are safely rescued.
Lt. Gen. Shaibu ordered troops to leverage intelligence and conduct intelligence-based missions to ensure the safe return of the girls.
The Army Chief held a high-level meeting with frontline commanders in Kebbi before addressing deployed troops, emphasizing ruthless determination and round the clock operations.
President Bola Tinubu has also directed security and intelligence agencies to collaborate in the rescue mission, condemning the attack and reaffirming the government’s commitment to protecting schoolchildren.
A statement from the chief of army staff, “We will continue to fight day and night until we find these students. Bandits have adopted a pattern of targeting soft locations, and we must confront them with superior strategy and intelligence,” Lt. Gen. Shaibu declared.
The Nigerian Army assures citizens that every resource is being deployed to secure the release of the abducted schoolgirls. Communities are urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as operations intensify across Kebbi State and surrounding regions.
