The factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has dismissed reports of his expulsion from the party, describing the action as illegitimate and the product of an “unauthorised gathering.”
Ohuabunwa, a founding member of the PDP and ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisted that he remains the duly recognized BoT Chair and will continue to discharge his responsibilities without interruption.
Statement from Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, he says “It is amusing for anyone to suggest that I, a founding father and current chairman of the conscience of our party, was expelled at a social gathering that some people are calling a convention. The PDP remains a party of law, order, and due process, and I will continue to serve in my capacity as BoT Chairman,” Ohuabunwa declared.
The Wike backed faction reassures members that the PDP’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee will meet as scheduled to deliberate on pressing issues. Party stakeholders are urged to disregard unauthorized pronouncements and remain committed to the unity and stability of the PDP.
The PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) is regarded as the “conscience of the party,” tasked with providing guidance, ensuring adherence to democratic principles, and safeguarding the party’s founding vision.
