A tragic mass shooting claimed four lives and wounded ten others at a banquet hall in Stockton yesterday evening. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, which occurred during a family gathering for a child's birthday party.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire around 6 p.m. on November 29 in the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue. Deputies arrived to find multiple victims, including children and adults, suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders transported the injured to local hospitals, where medical teams treated them for various injuries. Officials confirmed that four individuals succumbed to their wounds at the scene.

Heather Brent, spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, described the shooting as unfathomable. She noted early indications suggest the attack targeted the gathering specifically. Investigators have not yet identified suspects or determined a motive. The office urges anyone with information to come forward and assist the ongoing probe.

Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi expressed deep sorrow over the violence. She highlighted the community's shock, especially following Thanksgiving celebrations. Federal agencies, including the FBI and ATF, support local efforts to bring those responsible to justice.

San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas vowed to pursue accountability. He emphasized the need for public cooperation in solving this case.
