The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami, has awarded full scholarships to 100 newly admitted students at the Government Technical College, Owo, covering their entire three-year training program including tuition and daily feeding stipends.
The scholarships were announced during the institution's 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony, as part of Dr. Adelami's commitment to supporting Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s vision for revitalizing technical education in Ondo State.
This initiative aligns with the state's OUR EASE Agenda, which prioritizes opportunity creation, economic expansion, social inclusion, and security.
In his address, delivered by representative Mr. Kola Olawoye, Dr. Adelami urged the students to take their training seriously, emphasizing that technical education provides a viable pathway to self-reliance and job creation.
"The commitment of Governor Aiyedatiwa to technical education is firmly anchored on the OUR EASE Agenda of his administration," stated Mr. Tayo Oluyi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor.
The Principal of the college, Mr. Tayo Ijabiken, expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, noting that it not only eases the financial burden on families but also inspires hope and determination among the young learners.
"Through this intervention, Your Excellency has not only provided financial relief to students and their families, but has also inspired hope, confidence and renewed determination in the hearts of these young learners," he said.
This scholarship program is part of broader efforts to boost Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ondo State, focusing on skills acquisition for youths and women. It complements other state initiatives, including the recent approval of N350 million for 2025 scholarships and bursaries for students in higher institutions.
The Ondo State Government remains dedicated to empowering the next generation through education and skill development, ensuring a brighter future for all residents.
