Renowned Islamic cleric Sheikh Usman Idris Kusfa, popularly known as "Rigi-Rigi," has passed away at the age of 57. The respected scholar died in the early hours of Monday at a private hospital in Kaduna following a prolonged illness.
Nasiruddeen Umar, also known as Baharu and a senior disciple of the cleric, announced the sad news in Zaria. "We mourn the loss of our beloved Sheikh, who dedicated his life to the service of Islam and the community," said Mr. Umar.
Sheikh Kusfa was a prominent figure in Zaria, known for his teachings and contributions to Islamic scholarship. His passing leaves a significant void in the religious community of Kaduna State and beyond.
The cleric is survived by four wives, 37 children, and numerous grandchildren. Funeral prayers are scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. today in Kusfa, Zaria, where family, disciples, and followers will gather to pay their final respects.
Condolences have poured in from across Nigeria, with many highlighting Sheikh Kusfa's role in promoting peace and education within the Islamic faith.
