The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, has approved the nullification and cancellation of 485 Area Council land documents submitted for regularization.

This decisive action follows a rigorous verification exercise conducted by the Departments of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS).

The affected applications, spanning various layouts in Bwari, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), and Kuje Area Councils, failed to meet the required official checks for genuineness. Several were confirmed to be forged or otherwise fraudulent.

The FCTA public notice states: “This is to inform the general public, particularly applicants who submitted Area Council land documents for regularisation, that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has approved the nullification or cancellation of applications that failed the necessary official checks for genuineness and have been confirmed to be fake.”

The invalidated files have been immediately expunged from the FCTA’s regularization database. Holders of these documents are advised to take note of this development, as any reliance on them for land transactions or development purposes will be invalid.

Minister Wike emphasized that the FCT Administration will not tolerate fraud or irregularities in land matters.

This measure aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to restore integrity, transparency, and due process in the management of federal lands in the nation’s capital.

The Minister reiterated the commitment to protecting genuine landowners while cracking down on fraudulent practices that undermine public trust and orderly urban development in Abuja.

The FCTA urges all stakeholders to ensure full compliance with verification requirements for any land-related applications. Further details on the regularization process and verification guidelines are available through official FCTA channels.
