The Kaduna State Police Command has achieved significant successes in its ongoing intensified campaign against banditry, kidnapping, and the proliferation of illegal arms across the state.
In a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations, police operatives neutralised several suspected notorious bandits during fierce gun battles and apprehended key gunrunners supplying weapons to criminal elements.
The operations, which targeted identified bandits' camps and criminal hideouts in Kajuru, Tafa, Igabi, and Kauru Local Government Areas, formed part of sustained efforts to dismantle bandit networks and restore peace and security to communities plagued by these threats.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Rabiu Mohammed, several bandit camps were successfully dislodged following exchanges of fire with security forces.
Some suspects were neutralised in the process, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The operations resulted in the arrest of several suspected bandits and the apprehension of five gunrunners involved in the illegal supply of firearms.
A significant cache of arms was recovered, including no fewer than 30 firearms of various types, along with associated ammunition and other exhibits linked to criminal activities.
These breakthroughs underscore the Command's commitment to proactive, intelligence-driven policing and collaboration with other security agencies to eradicate banditry and related crimes in Kaduna State.
The Commissioner of Police commended the gallantry and professionalism of the officers involved and reassured residents that the Command remains resolute in its efforts to protect lives and property. He called on members of the public to continue providing credible information and support to security forces.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend fleeing suspects, dismantle wider criminal networks, and prosecute those arrested.
