The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria's ruling party, has issued a directive for the immediate swearing-in and inauguration of all duly elected executives at the ward, local government, and state levels following the successful conclusion of the party's nationwide elective congresses in 2026.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party emphasized that this prompt action is essential to consolidate the gains of the congresses, strengthen grassroots structures, and position the APC for greater unity, effectiveness, and success ahead of future electoral engagements.
The directive applies to all duly elected Ward Executive Committees, Local Government Executive Committees, and State Executive Committees across the federation. Party organs and leaders at the respective levels are instructed to organize and conduct the swearing-in ceremonies without delay, ensuring full compliance with the party's constitution and established protocols.
The APC commended the maturity, discipline, and widespread participation demonstrated by members during the congresses, which were largely peaceful and consensus-driven in many states. The party reiterated its commitment to internal democracy, inclusiveness, and the empowerment of elected officials to drive mobilization, reconciliation, and expansion efforts at all tiers.
"This is a critical step in institutionalizing the outcomes of our democratic processes," the statement noted. "We urge all elected executives to hit the ground running, foster unity among members, and work assiduously to grow the party's influence while supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration."
