Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, orchestrated his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by taking over the party’s political structure in Rivers State.

Amaechi made the allegation during a live interview on Channels Television on Friday, where he discussed his political journey and challenges within major political parties. He stated that he was “literally chased out” of the PDP due to the actions of the former First Family.

“The country knew what happened. I was literally chased out of the PDP,” Amaechi said. When asked who was responsible, he replied: “The president, with his wife. They took over the political structure in Rivers State and chased me out.”

The former governor, who is now a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), also referenced similar experiences in the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting recurring patterns of internal political maneuvering that pushed him out of previous parties.

This revelation comes amid ongoing discussions about political alignments and power dynamics in Rivers State and national politics ahead of future elections. Amaechi’s comments have sparked reactions across social media and political circles, with some viewing it as a reflection on past rivalries between key figures in the state.

Amaechi served as Governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 under the PDP before defecting to the APC. He later played a prominent role in the APC-led federal government as Minister of Transportation.

No immediate reaction has been received from former President Jonathan or his representatives as of the time of this release.
