Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has officially named Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made today during a high-level APC stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta, where party leaders, elected officials, and critical stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the party’s strategy for continued development and victory in the next electoral cycle. A video capturing the moment of the declaration has since gone viral, underscoring the significance of the decision.
Senator Adeola, who currently represents the Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly and serves as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has been widely regarded as a leading figure with broad support across the state. His emergence as the consensus candidate reflects the party’s commitment to unity, equity, and building on the infrastructural and socio-economic gains recorded under Governor Abiodun’s administration.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Abiodun emphasized the need for a seamless transition that prioritizes competence, experience, and a proven track record of service to the people of Ogun State. He described Senator Adeola as a capable leader whose legislative contributions and deep understanding of governance position him to consolidate the progress made in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
