Accreditation has officially commenced at the Rainbow Event Centre, Garki, Area 8, Abuja, the venue for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Convention.
No fewer than 3,000 delegates have already arrived at the centre, dressed in colourful party attire, as the party gears up for a landmark gathering expected to draw up to 7,000 delegates from across Nigeria.
Security personnel have beefed up presence in and around the venue, conducting thorough checks on all arriving delegates before granting access. The accreditation process is proceeding smoothly under the supervision of the Accreditation Sub-Committee, chaired by Sen. Austin Akobundu.
The ADC National Convention, scheduled for today, will feature the election of a new National Working Committee (NWC) to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years. Party leaders and delegates are upbeat, describing the event as a critical step in strengthening the ADC as a formidable platform for credible opposition and good governance in Nigeria.
Kola Ologbondiyan, Chairman of the National Convention Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, assured that all arrangements are in top gear and that the convention will hold as planned despite earlier venue challenges.
The party had faced initial difficulties securing a suitable venue in Abuja, with requests for Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium reportedly unmet.
The Rainbow Event Centre was confirmed as the final venue following contractual agreements.
