President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sadness over the loss of brave soldiers of the 29 Task Force Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, who made the ultimate sacrifice in a coordinated terrorist attack on their camp in Benisheikh, Borno State.
In a statement issued on his behalf by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the fallen troops as “our unforgettable heroes” whose courage and dedication will never be forgotten.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of our gallant soldiers, led by Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who paid the supreme price in the defence of our country in Borno State today,” the President said. “These soldiers fought valiantly to repel the insurgents and protect the communities under their watch. Their heroism in the face of danger exemplifies the highest ideals of service to the nation.”
President Tinubu emphasised that the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers will not be in vain. “The government will never forget their sacrifices. Because of the courage and dedication of our troops on the frontline, our resolve to defeat terrorism and all forms of violence across Nigeria is stronger than ever,” he declared.
The President called on all Nigerians, particularly the media, to rally behind the Armed Forces in the ongoing fight against insurgency and banditry. “We must desist from celebrating or condoning attacks against our troops. These soldiers are our heroes unforgettable and irreplaceable,” he stressed.
President Tinubu further assured the nation that the military leadership has been directed to sustain intensified operations to root out terrorists and restore peace and security to all affected communities.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed soldiers and for strength and comfort for their families in this moment of grief.
