Former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, at his residence in Abuja.

The visit, which took place barely 24 hours after the conclusion of the ADC presidential primaries where Atiku emerged as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 general elections, was aimed at fostering reconciliation and strengthening unity within the party.

During the closed-door meeting, which was also attended by other key ADC leaders, Atiku Abubakar emphasized the need for all party members to set aside personal ambitions and work together for the greater goal of rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar stated: “No one was defeated in this primary. What we have achieved is a collective victory for the ADC and for Nigeria. I urge all our brothers and sisters, including my good friend and brother, Rotimi Amaechi, to join hands with us as we build a strong, united front. Unity is not optional it is essential if we are to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027.”

Chief Rotimi Amaechi welcomed the visit and expressed commitment to the ideals of the opposition coalition. Sources close to the meeting revealed that discussions centered on party cohesion, addressing Nigeria’s economic difficulties, insecurity, and strategies for a formidable challenge in the next general elections.

The ADC leadership views this engagement as a significant step towards healing any post-primary tensions and consolidating the growing opposition movement.

Atiku Abubakar further added: “We must remain focused on the bigger picture  delivering good governance, economic prosperity, and security to our people. The ADC is bigger than any individual, and together we shall prevail.”

This high-level reconciliation visit underscores the ADC’s determination to present a united and formidable opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
