The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed as false and unfounded, viral reports circulating on social media alleging the arrest of suspected Boko Haram members in Ilorin and other parts of the state.
In a statement issued today, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the reports as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panic among residents.
“The Command states emphatically that no Boko Haram member was arrested anywhere within Kwara State. The circulating report is entirely false and should be disregarded,” the statement read.
According to the Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the claims are baseless and not supported by any security operation conducted by the police in the state. The Command urged members of the public to rely only on official channels for verified security information and to avoid spreading unconfirmed rumours that could undermine public confidence and security efforts.
The Kwara State Police Command reaffirms its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state. It continues to work closely with other security agencies to ensure that Kwara remains safe for all residents and visitors.
The public is advised to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency numbers, and refrain from sharing unverified content on social media.
