The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has formally presented the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, free of charge, signaling the party’s full endorsement for his re-election bid in 2027.

The symbolic presentation took place on Friday in Abuja during a brief ceremony led by the LP National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman. The party described the waiver of fees as recognition of Governor Otti’s outstanding performance and unwavering commitment to the Labour Party’s ideals.

Senator Usman commended Governor Otti for serving as a pillar of the party and for faithfully implementing its core principles of Equal Opportunities and Social Justice in the governance of Abia State. She noted that the free ticket is intended to encourage him to sustain the delivery of quality governance to the people of Abia.

In his remarks, the Labour Party National Secretary, Hon. Obioma Iheanacho, praised Governor Otti’s steadfast loyalty to the party during challenging periods when many others had defected to other platforms. He highlighted the governor’s consistency in both politics and governance.

Responding to the honour, Governor Otti expressed deep appreciation to the NWC, assuring them that he does not take the gesture lightly. He pledged his continued support for the party and vowed not to disappoint its leadership and members.

The Governor also lauded Senator Nenadi Usman’s leadership in resolving the party’s protracted internal crisis and expressed confidence that the Labour Party is now fully positioned for the next general elections, with all legal impediments resolved.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included National Organising Secretary, Mrs. Oluchi Oparah; National Woman Leader, Hilda Dokubo; National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa; immediate past National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwokocha (who also received his free nomination form); and Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, who led Abia State federal lawmakers and members of the Abia State Executive Council.

This development further strengthens Governor Otti’s position as the Labour Party’s candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election in Abia State.
