Global Afrobeats icon Davido (David Adeleke) has been announced as a 2026 inductee into the prestigious Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia. Organisers made the announcement on Thursday, recognising the singer for his immense contributions to music, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2026, along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Northside Drive, outside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta’s Historic Westside. Davido will be honoured alongside American rapper Ludacris and other notable figures.

In their official announcement, organisers described Davido as “a global force in Afrobeats” who has played a pivotal role in bringing African music to the forefront of the international stage. “Known for his infectious hits, dynamic performances, and cross-cultural collaborations, he has built a sound that transcends borders while staying rooted in his heritage,” the statement read.

“Beyond music, his impact extends into philanthropy and entrepreneurship, inspiring a new generation of artists across the globe,” they added.

Davido, one of Africa’s most commercially successful artists, rose to prominence with his 2011 hit Dami Duro. He has since released numerous global chart-toppers including Fall, If, Unavailable, and Feel, and has collaborated with international stars such as Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, and Summer Walker. The multi-award-winning artist has earned multiple Grammy nominations and performed on some of the world’s biggest stages.

This honour places Davido alongside legendary figures previously inducted, including Fela Kuti, further cementing Afrobeats’ growing influence on the global music landscape.

Davido expressed gratitude for the recognition, which coincides with the 15th anniversary of his breakthrough in the music industry.
