Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect.

In a resignation letter dated May 22, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the APC Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Senator Omo-Agege cited irreconcilable developments within the party in Delta State and the outcome of the recent senatorial primary as key factors behind his decision.

"I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria," the former Senator stated after wide consultations with his political associates and supporters.

Senator Omo-Agege’s exit from the APC follows his defeat in the Delta Central Senatorial District primary held on May 18, 2026, where incumbent Senator Ede Dafinone emerged victorious. Official results showed Senator Dafinone polling a significant majority of votes.

A prominent leader from Delta State and former governorship candidate, Senator Omo-Agege served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate. He has been a key figure in Delta politics, known for his advocacy on issues affecting the region and his contributions at the national level.

The resignation marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections. Further details regarding his future political engagements are expected to be announced in due course.
