The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah today announced that more than 1.5 million pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 1447H Hajj season, already surpassing last year’s total and marking one of the largest gatherings in recent history.
According to official updates, international pilgrims continue to arrive in large numbers through the Kingdom’s airports, seaports, and land borders. This year’s turnout exceeds the 2025 figure of approximately 1.673 million pilgrims, reflecting the success of Saudi Arabia’s enhanced capacity, streamlined visa processes, and world-class infrastructure developments under Vision 2030.
The Ministry confirmed that preparations are fully complete, with comprehensive services deployed across the Holy Sites of Makkah, Madinah, Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah. Advanced crowd management systems, health facilities, cooling technologies, and security measures have been strengthened to ensure the safety and comfort of all pilgrims amid expected high temperatures.
H.E. Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah, stated: “We are witnessing a historic turnout for Hajj 2026. The arrival of over 1.5 million pilgrims from across the globe demonstrates the growing confidence in Saudi Arabia’s ability to host this sacred obligation efficiently and safely. Our teams are working around the clock to provide seamless services, guided by the vision of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.”
Key highlights for Hajj 2026 include: Expanded transport networks with thousands of additional buses and high-speed rail services. State-of-the-art medical centers and emergency response teams. Digital solutions via the Nusuk platform for better crowd flow and personalized pilgrim support. Strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent overcrowding.
The Ministry urges all pilgrims to follow official guidelines, stay hydrated, and utilize designated routes and facilities. Hajj rituals are set to commence in the coming days, culminating in the standing at Arafat.
